Journey to the heart of the ancient Lycian civilization! This fascinating tour combines a scenic boat trip over underwater ruins with a visit to the most spiritual and historical sites in Turkey. It is a “must-do” for history buffs and nature lovers alike, offering a glimpse into the real story of Santa Claus and the mystery of a city swallowed by the sea.

1. Kekova Harbor (Üçağız): We arrive at the charming fishing village of Üçağız (ancient Teimiussa) to board our boat. This protected area remains untouched by mass tourism, offering a peaceful atmosphere with small seaside restaurants and traditional boats. It is the gateway to the turquoise waters of the Kekova region.

2. The Sunken City (Batık Şehir): The highlight of the day! We sail slowly along the coast of Kekova Island, where the ruins of the ancient city of Dolchiste lie half-submerged in the crystal-clear water. Destroyed by an earthquake in the 2nd century AD, you can clearly see the remains of houses, staircases, and harbor walls just beneath the surface. It is a mesmerizing “Turkish Atlantis” experience.

3. Simena & The Floating Sarcophagus: Keep your cameras ready! Across from the sunken city lies the picturesque village of Simena (Kaleköy), accessible only by sea. The most iconic sight here is the famous Lycian sarcophagus standing alone in the water. With the medieval castle crowning the hilltop and the stone tombs scattered around, it is one of the most photogenic spots on the Mediterranean coast.

4. St. Nicholas Church (Museum): We return to land to visit the town of Demre, the home of the real St. Nicholas—the historical figure who inspired the legend of Santa Claus. We visit the ancient Byzantine church where he served as a bishop and was originally buried. You can admire the beautiful frescoes and mosaic floors that have attracted pilgrims for centuries.

5. Myra Ancient City: Our final stop is the awe-inspiring ancient city of Myra. Famous for its spectacular Lycian Rock-Cut Tombs carved high into the vertical cliff face, they look like an intricate “city of the dead.” Right next to them stands a well-preserved Roman Theater. The sheer scale and detail of these ancient structures are truly breathtaking.
